Since the beginning of the academic year, the Department of Innovative Technologies of Language Communication (Head - Professor Tatyana Rogozhnikova) has been successfully implementing the Program for Creating a Multilingual Environment at the University. One of the main goals of the project is to improve the language literacy of university teachers.
A survey was conducted at the department of Innovative Technologies of Language Communication, which made it possible to clarify the language needs and communicative intentions of teachers and staff of the USATU.
In total, 244 people took part in the survey (IEM - 60, FGS - 42, FAEEIT - 41, FIR - 35, IATM - 29, FAEET - 17, FCDEM - 14, a branch in Ishimbay - 1 and administrative and managerial personnel - 5).
The survey results showed the following:
183 - intend to study a foreign language for scientific purposes (for reading and writing articles);
175 – plan to learn languages for self-development;
139 - ready to conduct classes and lecture in a foreign language;
101 - are planning an internship abroad;
154 - have the opportunity to attend face-to-face practical classes;
120 - can work remotely;
180 - agree to study a foreign language in addition to the workload of 10 hours a week.
In September-December 2021, the department tested teachers to determine the initial level of language training in English.
The university management fully supported the initiative of the Department of Innovative Technologies of Language Communication to organize affordable diagnostic testing of the initial level of language training (Placement Tests) and testing the level of achievements (Achievement Tests) for all interested teachers throughout the academic year.
91 teachers of USATU have already received a certificate with the recommendation of the department for further language training. Soon two study group levels A2 (Elementary) and B1 (Pre-Intermediate) will start practical exercises.
