In 1982, the Bashkir Book Publishing House published the book “Ufa Order of Lenin Aviation Institute named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze - 50 years old”, the editor-in-chief of which was R.R. Mavlyutov.

One of the sections of the historical essay tells about the heroic biography of our oldest teachers.

For six years (1948-1954), the head of the military department of the institute was Yuri Grigoryevich Prilutsky, an aeronaut, military figure, and teacher.

The name of this brave aeronaut spread around the world as early as 1935: three Soviet researchers - commander K.Ya. Zille, co-pilot - Y.G. Prilutsky and Professor A.B.Verigo climbed to a height of 16,000 meters on a stratospheric balloon and landed safely. The whole fate of the hero-discoverer is connected with the Air Force of the country. When, after an accident during a training flight into the stratosphere, Yuri Grigorievich could no longer remain a test pilot, he served in aviation in engineering positions. Then in the army in the war, later taught at the Leningrad Air Force Academy.

“This youthful, strongly built man in a military tunic with colonel-engineer shoulder straps and medals on his chest has been giving his knowledge and experience to students of the Ufa Aviation Institute every day for more than six years,” the book says.

The heroic biography of the modest teacher Rybinsky, and then the Ufa Aviation Institute, A.V. Luchinsky, brings us back to the harsh years of the civil war. A student of Professor N.E. Zhukovsky himself at Moscow University, in 1918 he left science and voluntarily joined the Red Army. Participated in battles on the Kola and Yaroslavl fronts, was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

The facts of the biography of two other oldest teachers, Pavel Dmitrievich Mirko and Andrei Artemyevich Ushakov, surprisingly coincided. They were born at the beginning of the twentieth century - one in Ukraine, the other - in Bashkortostan. Both voluntarily joined the Red Army and participated in the battles. A.A. Ushakov went through three wars - the civil war, the war with the White Finns and the Great Patriotic War. Since July 1941 he was in the ranks of the army. Already being a personal pensioner of federal significance, Andrey Artemyevich worked as an assistant professor at the UAI.

Pavel Dmitrievich Mirko organized the Department of Economics at the Aviation Institute and headed it for many years. Not only at the university, but also in the city, he was known as an excellent lecturer and propagandist.
