On April 28, held a volleyball match meeting between the team of students of the Ufa State Aviation Technical University and the youth team of the republic "Berkuts of the Urals", dedicated to the memory of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Gareev, at the USATU. The Volleyball Federation of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Department of Physical Education of the Ufa State Aviation Technical University organized the event.
Rector Sergey Novikov attended the competition, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ruslan Khabibov and President of the Ural Volleyball Club, member of the Board of Trustees of USATU Valery Bagmetov.
The game turned out to be spectacular and tense, both teams demonstrated good physical shape and showed sports enthusiasm. Of course, it was hard for the students to compete with the professionals, however, our guys forced the opponents to play at full strength. The Berkuts won, showing a beautiful, well-coordinated team game.
Rector Sergey Novikov opened the award ceremony:
“It is a great honor for us to host the volleyball championship dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Musa Gareev at our sports ground, which takes place in a significant year for us, the 90th anniversary of the USATU.
The name of Musa Gareev is closely connected with the Ufa aviation. The heroic pilot was a great friend of the university and its frequent guest. It was Musa Gareev who solemnly opened the monument to the MiG-19 aircraft on the university square on May 7, 1974. Then he launched the first student military-sports relay race, which is now held annually at USATU in honor of Victory Day.
As part of our holiday, a parade of officers and cadets of the Military Training Center takes place, flowers are laid at the memorial to those who died in the Great Patriotic War, the line of the Immortal Regiment is lined up, and then student teams from all faculties compete in military sports disciplines.
Today, USATU continues to maintain its best sports traditions, and I am sure that we need to meet more often on the fields of sports battles.
Further, the rector of USATU proposed to organize a volleyball championship for the Cup of the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
“I am ready to take such an initiative if the universities of the republic participate in the tournament,” said the head of the sports department, Ruslan Khabibov. - I do not promise that the cup will be as big and tall as our volleyball players, but it will be worthy. In addition, today I convey to you a big physical education greeting from the Head of the Republic and congratulations on the upcoming holidays. I want to especially thank the spectators and fans, whose friendly help and support is extremely important for the victory of any team.”
Then the president of the Ural volleyball club Valery Bagmetov took the floor:
“Twice hero of the Soviet Union Musa Gareev was a big fan of sports, took an active part in organizing sports events in the republic and watched with pleasure as an ordinary spectator the game of our athletes. Therefore, we have decided to hold tournaments in his memory.”
