On October 29, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, held a conference call with Scientific and technical educational institutions of higher education about the opportunities for the commercialization of innovative development of leading companies with state participation.
Rector Sergei Novikov was one of the speakers. The topic of his speech concerned the scientific and technical potential of USATU in the innovative development of the industry of the Russian Federation.
Sergey Novikov said that USATU is a large educational, scientific and innovative complex of the Russian Federation. More than 15 thousand students study within its walls and with more than 1000 scientific and pedagogical staff. The university classified as a higher education institution of the first category according to the results of research activities. USATU ranked in the top 700 universities in the world and in the top 50 Russian universities of various ratings. The university is a member of the world class Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center and 5 technology projects with business groups.

“The university develops scientific schools in the field of engine building, new materials, digital production technologies, biomedicine, new data transmission technologies (photonics),” the rector continued. - The university interacts with the leading enterprises and corporations of the country: UEC, Gazprom, Rosneft, Technodinamika, TsIAM, etc., carrying out innovative projects within the framework of priority areas for the development of science and technology in the Russian Federation.
Together with the UEC, the university is mastering new "critical" technologies for engine building in Russia, such as friction welding, large-size titanium casting, additive methods for creating parts, electromechanical energy converters, technologies for creating digital twins units and systems.
With the abilities, which available today in the areas of advanced research and production infrastructure, allow us to independently create and adapt the production chain for a specific project or a customer, from the development of design documentation to testing and transfer of technologies for launching into mass production.
We have a techno-park with production facilities accredited by the Center for Collective Use Laboratories for the research and production of metallic and non-metallic materials; we have licenses from the FSS, FSTEC, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to carry out activities for development, production, testing and repair of aviation equipment.
In addition, we have a production chain that allows us to carry out repair work of engines (including ground-based applications) by order of Gazprom enterprises, which include the processes of fault detection, restoration of material properties, and repair.
All this allowed us to create a consortium with the St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University to introduce new technologies and equipment in the area of "Repair and restoration of gas turbine mountings and gas pumping stations." Our developments are in the demand by Gazprom and aimed at developing joint competencies between two parties in the creation of high-tech scientific products and the transfer of new technologies to industrial production.
The University develops and implements "green" initiative for its energy complex to reduce the formation of scale deposits on the outer and inner surfaces of the submersible equipment and maintain the maximum level of productivity, developed a resonant-wave complex. This new technology was introduced at subsidiaries of Rosneft and Lukoil.
For the Trans-Ural CHPP (combine heat and power plant), USATU performed work to remove the power limitation caused by detonation processes in the gas piston unit.
Together with the IT Company Lexema, the university has developed an intelligent decision support system for prescribing personalized dialysis and drug therapy for patients with chronic renal failure. We introduced this product to 27 hemodialysis clinics in different areas of Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, and Khanty-Mansi province. The effectiveness of treatment using the recommendations of the intelligent system increases from 52% to 94%! This is the highest figure among similar programs in the world market.
Our scientists are engaged in the production of metal implants with "living" coatings. Achieved an increase in biocompatibility by 20-30% and antibacterial properties by 30-40% in comparison with implants without coatings.
The University pays active attention to the development of youth science and engineering entrepreneurship. There are eight student design bureaus operating at USATU, most of which were created for specific directions of partners.
We have increased conditions and space for creativity so that our students have a unique opportunity to combine studies at a university with work at SCB, where students able to join real scientific projects, solve engineering and design problems in the interests of a specific industrial customer.
