February 21 is International Mother Language Day. The holiday was established by the decision of the UNESCO General Conference in November 1999. The UN Assembly supported the call and called on all UN member states, to actively contribute to the protection of the planet's linguistic and cultural diversity.
More than 330 students - citizens of foreign students from 48 countries of the world study at USATU. On the Mother Language Day, they filmed a video at the university.
Rahman Md Nafis came to Ufa from Bangladesh. His native language is Bengali. At home, he graduated from the bachelor's degree and, from a invitation of the head of the department of electro mechanics, plans to enroll as a postgraduate student of USATU in order to continue to engage in science.
Now Nafis is studying Russian at the preparatory department of the USATU. A freshman from Uzbekistan also watches the news on the Russia 24 TV channel, loves the film Attraction, read Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace, and is a fan of the Russian hockey team.
However, Benhai Chaimae from Morocco knows by heart the love poems of the great Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. One of them she happily recited. Together with Sadeq Takla from Egypt, they spoke about the Arabic language, and then a violin composition was performed for the audience. By the way, Sadeq Takla learned to play a musical instrument on his own and now uploads videos with his concerts on social networks.
Each language is unique; it reflects the mentality and traditions of the people. The most important thing is that young people are interested in the culture of different peoples. It develops not only intellectually, but also spiritually. The positive aspect is that such a celebration of respect for the native language is accepted at the international level.
