What should a student answer to the question “Why do I need a higher education if I can be a Tiktoker?”

- Thousands of teenagers now dream of becoming a popular blogger: the characters of social networks are not only famous and fashionable, but also rich people. They earn on advertising millions of rubles, and some and millions of dollars. However, the other side of such success is its transience and often an accident. A few get their way, while the rest remain in obscurity. Yes and these single lucky ones bask in the rays of glory for several months or a year - and then quickly and forever disappear from sight. I would ask a schoolchild: does he want such a fate? Unlikely. Moreover, high-quality higher education means freedom and the prospect of choosing a life path. The university gives not only knowledge, but also experience: they teach to solve practical problems, to overcome difficulties.

We try to unleash the creative potential of students

Has the level of preparation of applicants changed a lot lately?

- This is an inevitable process: the school curriculum is changing, as is the generational worldview in general. On the one hand, teenagers began to read less, even entertaining literature. At the same time, access to information has become freer, which allows young people to be erudite in certain areas. Such a paradox gives rise to a huge difference between applicants: there are advanced people, especially in areas of knowledge that are interesting to them. At the same time, there are many who, with all the possibilities of satisfying the information hunger, manage with a minimum. In general, the number of creative people among students is not decreasing. We try to unlock their creative potential: we involve them in scientific work; we encourage the best with special scholarships and foreign internships.

Did you yourself study at UGATU?

- Yes, an economist. I remember my student years with warmth - the most cheerful and carefree times. In general, my whole life is connected with the aviation university: I am a representative of the third generation in our dynasty, strongly associated with the aviation engine building industry. My grandmother worked at UEIA during the war years, my mother worked at the Aviation Technology Technopark, taught at USATU. I myself was initially set up for a scientific career. In 2002 he completed my postgraduate studies, two years later he defended my PhD thesis.

A How do you feel about online education?

This trend is unlikely to disappear already: it can (and should be used!), but wisely. It is good to give lectures remotely but for laboratory ones where special equipment is used this option is not suitable. Online allows you to provide more visual material, expanding the individual program: if the topic is of interest, the student chooses the amount of information. Finally, it is just convenient: you can study when and where it is convenient, leaving more time for practical training. Common feature between work in the Government and in the university is the rapid dynamics.

The question that worries, it seems, all Ufa residents: what about the merger of USATU and BashGU?

- After a lot of questions and worries, repeated meetings of the Academic Council with the Head of the Republic, the Administration of the Head, all the pros and cons were finally discussed. Everyone understands the need for transformation. Together with colleagues from BashSU, we prepared a large program for the development of the united university and approved it. On September 1, 2022, we will meet students at the new university.
