The winners of the competition for grants from the President of the Russian Federation in the 2021-2022 academic year were three representatives of the Ural State Aviation Technical University studying under the master's programs.

Congratulations to Alina Morkina, Oleg Khakimov - on their accomplishments in computer programs and publications in scientific international and Russian publications, as well as Svyatoslav Gromov - the winner of the All-Russian Olympiad of students "I am a professional".

Alina Morkina, a first-year Master’s student in Nanoengineering, says:

“I started my research work in the 2nd year of undergraduate studies under the guidance of Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Physics of Metals Elena Korznikova. Now, as a co-author, I have published several articles in Russian and international scientific journals.

In addition, I try to participate in various scientific conferences, twice took a prize at the Mavlyutov Readings, and last spring I won the All-Russian Conference - the competition of students and graduate students "Actual problems of subsoil use", which allowed me to win a grant from the President of the Russian Federation.

I also wrote a program for modeling energy localization parameters in one-dimensional nonlinear systems. It has a direct bearing on my scientific work.”

The secret of success was shared by a freshman of the master's program in the direction "Technical operation of aircraft and engines" Svyatoslav Gromov:

“To be honest, I was skeptical about the proposal to participate in the Olympiad “I am a professional”. Nevertheless, I decided to test my knowledge. At all stages, I laughed it off, they say, the next tour will be the last, but I continued to try my best.

I really liked the final task, which involved the creation of a full-fledged aircraft project with a business model, production technology, and finding potential partner enterprises. Only 3 days were allotted for it, and I honestly did not know how it could be turned into a decent project in such a short time. And you had to present your project and defend it. In general, a kind of trial version of thesis defense.

During the defense, I had a feeling that my project could be much weaker than the others. For a long time it was not known when the results would appear, it was not possible to see the overall final table. I learned about the victory a few days later. At first, I was glad that I was able to reach the end, because it means that I took part not in vain. Then there was surprise and happiness from the fact that it was definitely not in vain.

Something similar happened with the grant, but this time I knew for sure that it was worth a try. If I could before, I can do it now.

I would like to advise all students not to be afraid to participate in any competitions, because it is very useful, and we are talking not only about cash prizes. Such events build character and help overcome the fear of public speaking. In addition, most importantly, this is a great opportunity to believe in yourself and understand that you can go all the way to the end and become a winner. Moreover, the experience gained in life will always come in handy.

It should be noted that the grant of the President of the Russian Federation is provided in the amount of 20,000 rubles monthly for the established period of study in master's programs, subject to annual confirmation of the right to receive a grant.
