The project of our young scientists - winner of the best practices of inclusive education

The project of young scientists of the university became the winner of the best practices of inclusive education, held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia in 2021, in the nomination "Innovative approach to learning". Moreover, it was included in the collection of 20 best practices of Russian universities on the use of new technologies for teaching, educating and socializing students with disabilities and people with disabilities.

The authors of the project are Associate Professor of the Department of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics Diana Bogdanova and a 1st year master student of the Faculty of Informatics and Robotics of MO-108m group - Adelina Yulamanov.

A software product for the automated compilation of an individual distance-learning module, taking into account the emotional state of students, including those with disabilities, has been developed and is being successfully implemented at our university.

Project manager Diana Bogdanova comments:

“Research on this topic was carried out within the framework of the scientific direction of the Department of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, related to the use of artificial intelligence in various applications. The results formed the basis of Adelina's Bachelor’s degree thesis. A computer program was developed and registered.

I emphasize that the work was carried out in close cooperation with the employees of the department for social work of the university, we constantly consulted with them. It was they who provided us with the methodology for assessing the emotional state of students, recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and used by our psychological support service for students.

The pandemic and distance learning prompted us to turn to this topic. It is no secret that in the absence of personal contact and emotional support from the teacher, students greatly lose interest and motivation, which leads to serious problems in their studies. We proposed an algorithm for supporting distance learning with automatic selection of an individual learning module and algorithms for classifying students according to emotional support classes and the form of material presentation.

Thus, there is a specialized selection of materials depending on the personal qualities and characteristics of the student. That is, an individual approach is used, which is especially important for children with health problems.

I also note that the results of the research have already been reported at international conferences, there are publications in the RSCI, Scopus, and Web of Science.”
