On April 20, a meeting was held between Rector Sergei Novikov and the administration of the university with foreign students studying at the university. The rector answered the questions of young people regarding education and living in connection with the current situation in the world.
The guest of the gathering was the head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan, police lieutenant colonel Nikolai Starukhin. In his speech, he explained that, in order to stay legally in the Russian Federation, foreign citizens who entered after December 29, 2021 are subject to mandatory fingerprint registration and medical examination. You will only need to be fingerprinted and photographed once, and you will need to undergo a medical examination every time you enter Russia.
The open, confidential nature of the conversation made it possible to identify the most interesting topics for foreign students. Students asked questions related to tuition and living expenses, living conditions, migration and visa registration, additional Russian language courses, observance of religious traditions, and employment. Of particular concern to young people are limitations in the operation of banking systems and difficulties in making cross-border transfers.
The rector assured that there would be no problems with paying for tuition and accommodation in the current situation, and promised to resolve emerging issues on an individual basis.
“I am always on the side of the students and I am ready to make every effort so that the students can continue their education at USATU without hindrance,” Sergey Novikov emphasized.
He called on foreign students to remain calm, study conscientiously, follow the established rules and maintain good relations, which is traditional for the education system of our university.
It should be noted that about 70 foreign citizens undergoing training at USATU on educational programs attended the meeting.
