Student from Cameroon participates in the reconstruction of the aircraft monument
Meet Epah Nzehe Fotoh, a third-year student of FADET major in Technical Operation of Aircrafts and Engines.
Epah dreamed of the sky and airplanes since childhood. He was born and graduated from high school in the capital of Cameroon, Yaounde. The eldest in the family, where he has two brothers and five sisters. When he was growing up, he was always confident, had great diligence and enthusiasm to walk towards his dream, and to study in an aviation university.
First, Epah received a bachelor's degree at a local university, then, thanks to a special program of the Government of Cameroon, he was invited to study at USATU.
“I almost knew nothing about Russia back then, only few phrases: Russian language, Putin and cold,” recalls our foreign student with a smile. - Huge airports, cold weather in the autumn season, and I didn't even have a jacket. The road to Ufa has become a real adventure!
Then a year of studying Russian language at the preparatory department of the USATU. For Epah, the native languages are English and French. But the young man overcame all the difficulties and today speaks the language of Pushkin and Gogol at a high level.
We met with Epah right at the workplace near to the reconstructed aircraft-monument "MiG-19" - the trademark of USATU: a student as part of a construction team is carrying out repair work on the university square.
He agreed to take a short break and continued to share his impressions:
- “Yes, it was not easy. For example, I wanted to play football, but did not know from whom to ask for advice. Now everything is fine: I play football at the local stadium, I help as a volunteer to help everyone in learning English, I have many friends, I have a girlfriend. Thank you, USATU!
But there is absolutely no time to cook national dishes, so I always eat borsch and dumplings with appetite, I adore “Dressed herring”.
Another problem: I don’t like to dress like cabbage (Epah is happy and knowledgeable in using even Russian puns in speech - ed.) And I constantly lose hats and gloves in winter.”
And Epah is also a bit of a philosopher:
“Russia has made me better. I learned to invest in myself. I am eager to study at the university and additionally study everything new. Living idle is boring and uninteresting. I think any job is a great experience that can be applied in the future.
While we were talking, the head of the construction team came up to us and praised our foreign student: "He is a very responsible young man who takes on any job and is easily trained."
