Yesterday, at a meeting of the Academic Council, Rector Sergei Novikov expressed his support for President Vladimir Putin's decision to recognize the self-proclaimed republics and the university's readiness to provide assistance to the university community of Donbass. Members of the Academic Council, the Council of Students, trade union organizations of workers and students, supported the proposal.
“Our colleagues are in a difficult situation. We are ready to provide accommodation for faculty and students in our dormitories, we are considering the issue of renting premises where our comrades could be accommodated. I am sure that in the hospitable Bashkir land, in the friendly family of USATU, our colleagues will find new acquaintances, friends and confidence in the future!” Sergey Novikov said.
Alexey Elizariev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of USATU, said:
“On behalf of the rector, we are already working on the possibility of accepting students from Donbass universities by transfer to our university for vacancies, and have also begun developing curricula taking into account the potential choice of an individual learning path, including an adaptation period. Also, the university has determined a list of vacancies for young scientists and teachers from the DPR and LPR.”
USATU students expressed their solidarity with the leadership and teaching staff of the university.
“Young people will always find a common language, so we will be happy to accept Donbass students into our ranks. I am sure that we have the same interests, hobbies, goals. So let's be friends!" - commented the chairperson of the United Council of Students of the USATU Laysan Bakirova.
It should be noted that the chairman of the presidium of the consortium of universities "Nedra", the rector of the Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko has already expressed his support for the universities of Donbass (UGATU is a member of the consortium).
