In Ufa, on the site of the Albanov Museum of Polar Explorers, the Russian environmental and educational marathon "Holidays in the Arctic" was held. A bus with a virtual exposition about the Arctic started from Moscow and has already visited Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Perm, Yekaterinburg. Thus, seven regions of the Russian Federation are involved in the project.
Among the invited guests at the Ufa site were a senator from the Arctic region, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs Elena Shumilova, chief pilot of the scientific expedition "Master of the Arctic", Hero of Russia, cosmonaut, test pilot 1 class Valery Tokarev, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan Natalya Lapshina.
Within the framework of the marathon, the All-Russian Forum "Development of the Arctic: the civilizational mission of the peoples of Russia" was held, organized jointly by the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and the Public Chamber of the Republic of Belarus. Its participants were USATU scientists, Doctors of Technical Sciences, Professors Gulnara and Andrey Vorobyovs, who presented their developments that provide forecasting and diagnosing extreme geophysical events in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, as well as decision support in the operation of high-latitude infrastructure systems.
For example, a virtual model and a web service were demonstrated that provide a short-term forecast of the probability of observing auroras with an accuracy of 77%
( https://aurora-forecast.ru ) and models that relate geomagnetic field variations in the Arctic region with the level of geo induced currents arising in high-latitude transmission lines.
The presented results were highly appreciated by experts and specialists in the industry. The importance of the obtained results for the development of the Arctic region was emphasized by Elena Shumilova and Valery Tokarev.
